Super Tusker Craig of Amboseli National Park was one of Kenya’s most legendary elephants and a global symbol of conservation. This post honors Craig, the iconic Amboseli super tusker, following his passing.

Craig has passed away due to natural causes on January 3, 2026 according to Kenya Wildlife Service. We were lucky enough to spend quite a few hours with Craig on a couple of visits to Amboseli National Park. Deepest condolences go out to Eric Ole Kalama (of Elephant Garden Camp) who guided me to get some incredible photos of the “Gentle Giant.”
